Moveset & Wrestling Style: Jack is an old fashioned throwback brawler.  In the ring he is methodical and slow, making regular use of submission holds to wear down his opponents. He also makes use of powerful strikes and a selection of the more traditional slams and suplexes. He has no time for opponents showing off or using flashy moves and will aggressively halt any attempt to entertain the crowd.

Taunts/gestures: He is all business in the ring and rarely taunts, letting his fists do the talking. He does seem to enjoy taunting the crowd by slowing the match right down and applying boring holds. 

Entrance Song Title: Back to the Grindstone

Ring Entrance:

The lights flash white as Back to the Grindstone blasts out across the arena. The big screen shows black and white footage of wrestling throughout history, fights in the streets, steel cages and matches in packed stadiums and. All featuring one man; Jack Standard. We see his painful submission holds and watch as That Damn Kick crunches faces across the world.

Then Backbone himself walks out confidently onto the ramp,  facing a loud chorus of boos from the crowd. He barely acknowledges them as he jogs down the ramp and rolls into the ring. 

Backstory:

"Backbone" Jack Standard is a grizzled veteran of the squared circle. He grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada – and like that city he is both industrious and surprisingly dull. He is a talented wrestler with great brawling ability, those skills have enabled him to travel the world taking on all-comers.

He earned the nickname 'Backbone' through his great intestinal fortitude. He brings a steadfast reliability and sees himself as carrying the burden of representing 'real wrestling. He carries himself with a serious intensity, even in the midst of the chaotic milieu of the wrestling world.

Simply put, Jack is a professional – hard working, punctual and good at his job. His job is to wrestle people for money so that is what he does. Standard is not concerned with being popular or 'going viral' (whatever that means!). He has an intense dislike for fancy gimmicks and flashy moves. He believes wrestling should never be for entertainment, this is serious combat. In the end, all he wants to do get on with his work – to wrestle and get paid.
