“Where are we?” A gruff voice asks.

“This is not some mysterious cave, we’re not in outer space or at the bottom of the ocean. We are in a wrestling ring.”

Jack Standard, steps up onto the apron. His taciturn features focussed straight ahead.

“Why are we here?” He snorts, as if remembering a dumb joke. “Well, if this is a wrestling ring, then  there is only one reason to put a foot through these ropes.”

He clambers through the ropes and takes in the view from within the squared circle.

“The reason we are here is simple. The only reason anyone would ever step into this ring is to wrestle.”

He begins winding around his wrist as he prepares himself.

“Seems to me that a lot of folk round here have forgotten why they are really here. This is not entertainment. You are not performers.” Jack spits that last word like an insult.”

He rips the last bit of strapping with his teeth. And looks down the camera.

“I’m putting the whole of OSW on notice, I’m going to remind each and everyone one of you that you are here for one reason, and that is to wrestle! Plain and simple, nothing else matters.”

Standard begins stretching, preparing himself for the contest ahead.

“And it begins next week at Turbo Violence. The first lesson is coming, and it will be taught to Crimson. This is a man I do not know, a man I do not care about, he’s just up next.”

Jack reaches high stretching his arms and neck.

“As far as I can see, this Crimson  is not a real wrestler. He’s some bum street kid scrapper. Well, next week he’ll be a long way from the streets! This is not fighting, this is wrestling. A sport that takes perseverance, strategy and power. When he steps through these ropes where he comes from will mean nothing. He is not ready and he will not match up to Standard.”

Jack pauses his warm-up to reflect, shaking his head slowly.

“And now we’re back to the beginning. Where are we and why are we here?”

He turns to the camera again, steely eyed gaze staring out.

“It’s real simple; We are in the ring , we are going to wrestle and I am going to win.”

The screen fades out as Jack returns to his serious preparation.
