MR. GRIMM
WHEAT
“Do you think that wheat has hopes? Dreams?”
“Look at a wheat stalk as it sways in the wind, watch as the sun reflects off of their stalks in waves of radiant gold. It takes in water and nutrients, the same as you and I.”
“A seed requiring nourishment and care so that it may grow into a full adult stalk.”
“So it’s alive, isn’t it?”
“It’s a silly question, yet one you would do well to ponder.”
“Look at wheat as the sun rains down upon it and you won’t merely see a crop awaiting harvest. You will see a horde of hands grasping at the sky, reaching for the clouds and begging for the sun.”
“Lives upon lives set on a course to a predetermined end.”
“Their fates inescapable the moment their seeds met the dirt.”
“Much like humanity.”
“A human grows from a simple seed and from the moment they breathe their first breath they begin to reach for the stars, don’t they? As the sun washes across their face they’ll be bathed in dreams of glory.”
“OSW is simply another piece of farmland in which aspirations are sowed by the many who fill its halls.”
“Wrestle Heroes shall be where the first harvest comes to fruition.”
“Every last one of you looks up at that title belt like the sun hanging high in the sky. It’s the air in your lungs, the food in your mouths, the originator of every last hope and dream that fertilized your soil.”
“Nothing can stop you from dreaming, yet the harsh reality of the world around you will come crashing down on you in one fell swoop.”
“For humans are like wheat.”
“I can ask if you have hopes, dreams. If you have friends, family, or love to fight for.”
“I could ask if you understood the feeling of the sun’s warmth on your skin.”
“But the answer to either question is the same as the answer to my original question.”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“I say that not out of malice, not out of disdain, but simply as a fact.”
“The wheat does not decide when it is harvested.”
“Such does the human not decide when their time has come.”
“That job remains for the farmer.”
“It remains for me.”
“Because that’s what becomes of crops.”
“They’re harvested.”
“They’re reaped.”
“At Wrestle Heroes I’m riding my iron horse onto the farmland with a sickle in hand.”
“There’s no escape from my blade, no respite for any who draw breath.”
“Nothing can be done to avoid me.”
“This is the cycle of the world.”
“Seeds are planted, crops are grown, wheat is cut down.”
“We do not ask the wheat if it dreams, just as I do not ask humanity if it has hopes.”
“No matter who they are, no matter what they believe sets them apart from the other stalks in row…”
“At the end of the day, the sun will set.”
“Graves will be filled.”
“And OSW will learn.”
“Death comes for us all.”
