Reverend Blackheart
Sermon: Art
“For today’s sermon, I thought I would talk a bit about myself, for a moment about what faith is about. Because for me, preaching my faith is my art, and I work in my words like some work in oils, pastels, or like a man sitting in the actor’s chair.”
“People say what they’ll sacrifice for their art, they’ll bleed, they’ll sweat, they’ll pour hours into their work until they morph into the very thing they want their art to be.”
“Some going to lengths that no one should, for something false, hollow, and empty.”
“They build an artifice of falsehoods; their art is that of playing pretend. They portray characters conjured up by the minds of others.”
“An empty, meaningless life meant to make the void of humanity smile and clap their hands while wasting their time.”
“It’s a gesture that takes away from the Gawd’s work and spoils the time of his faithful who stumbles in the face of your wicked art.”
“There’s one man in OSW who embodies this faith detracting ‘art’, and it would be ever the coincidence that his name is Ídolo. He has built himself up as a false idol; his art represents a craven image unto the lawd his-self!”
“He has bled to make himself a self-professed Silver Idol. This man believes he’s a deity to be worshiped.”
“The simple destruction of a VHS Tape of his performance sent him into a rage. His movements are far from measured, far from poised. He’s… what’s the Hollywood term, “chewing the scenery”? You’ve become your own worst enemy.”
“I’ve seen your films before the fire that claimed your face, always so composed, always so focused on your craft, but you’ve really been taken out of your element. I mean, a simple glitter bomb got to you last week, and now you’re stepping into my confessional.”
“And when you step in that ring, you’ll pay me your penance. Because punishing the sinful is my artform. For while you’re at the beck and call of the box office, the ever-powerful ticket sales, that is the higher power you answer to.”
“Me, I am the Higher Power because you were called to be an actor, to whore yourself out for millions on the silver screen like the false idol that you are. Me, well as they say, “Many are called, few are chosen… the good lawd has seen fit to make me both”.”
“I am the righteous hand of Gawd, the reckoning, and the ruination of sinners…”
“You will bow before me as I stand in place as your Alpha and Omega, your Beginning and your End. I will make sure this week you will sweat, and you will bleed for my art, which shall be your punishment in front of the world and the Al-freakin’-Mighty his-self. However, fret not for I shall help you bear your burden, and take up your cross…”
“All before I sacrifice you, and make you, my martyr.”
