The Birds and the Beasts declared war against each other.

They were unable to find a compromise or understanding, so they drew themselves into battle and went to war, tooth, and claw.

Their quarrel grew out of the persecution of the Geese, suffered at the teeth of the Fox family. The beasts, they also had cause for a fight. The Eagle would eat the Hare and the Owl feasted daily upon the Mice.

It would come to be an atrocious and horrifying battle, in which many a Hare and Mouse did perish. Chickens and Geese fell by the score, and the victor always stopped to feast.

Now the Bat family had joined neither side of the war. They instead waited to see who was getting the upper hand instead. So, when the Birds were seemingly winning the war, the Bat family would join them and become Birds.

But when the tide of that battle changed and the Beasts were firmly in control, they immediately switched sides and sided with them.

With the battle over, the conduct of the Bats was at the height of discussion. Such deceit was unpardonable, so the Birds and the Beasts made common enemy of the Bat.

Since then, the Bat family hides in dark towers, caves, and deserted ruins, flying out only in the night.

Because the deceitful have no friends.

Are you a Bird or are you a Beast, Theodore O’Toole?

At Warforged, the battle of Bird and Beast commences. You have Grimskull, Vision and Stubbins Doom – the Foxes.

Jasper Redgrave, Jackson Cade & Dr. Death – the birds.

Narcissa, Colt Ramsey and myself – the beasts.

And you find yourself in the company of two men you don’t trust in Drewitt and Drexl – men you have continuously betrayed.

So, when the battle commences, little bat – which side do you think you’ll find yourself on? Will you become a fox, or a bird, or even a beast for the evening?

Because we know that you’ll choose the winning side, just as long as it suits your agenda of surviving and thriving – just like the bats.

You may start the night a bat, but by the end of it, you’ll happily be left standing among the winners, whether bird or beast.

But when the war is over and the blood has been spilt…

When the dead are counted, and the victors left standing…

There will be a time when their attention turns to you and your actions, Theodore. There will be a time when both the beast’s and the birds look to the bat and realize that they were never one of them at all.

When that happens, it’ll spell your end.

Because the deceitful have no friends.

But never fear the end, Candy Man.

The end is where we meet.

And I will send you on your way.
