Mordecai is known as the Gatekeeper of Dreams. His job was to ensure that humanity is safe within their slumber by providing comforting dreams while fighting off nightmares. That all changed when his brother, the Sandman, tethered himself to Sandy Rogers to escape from the dream realm. Tethering himself to the then pure of heart Luke Storm, Mordecai made a vow to bring his brother back to the dream realm. If he has to make alliances with the awake in order to do so, then so be it.
