Fear No More

In Destructo Boy, Promo by Destructo Boy

History has had many it’s share of heroes, those brave men and women who walked into the darkness so others could be free in the light.

Some journeys were successful, giving these saviors immortality in tales of what one good soul can do.

Others failed miserably, falling into the abyss and becoming mere warnings to not fight the status quo.

But as high as they rose, there were always monsters waiting in the depths to ensure they fell.

Arcadia has always been a place where evil wins, where the good who try to rise up eventually get dragged down into the abyss.

Some falter through physicality, some waver through matters of the heart but for every hero that has ever been whispered in this world,

From Bellerophon to Maxwell Jackson, there’s one thing that destroys them in the end.

That one thing they feared the most.

But it’s not just heroes who fear, every single living being has that one deep seated terror that could tear them apart from the inside out.

Pain, relevance, power, control. The subject changes but the end result remains the same. Those who use and manipulate that fear believe they’ve allready won.

And men like Aarman Fidel are masters at using terror to decimate others with but a single phrase.

A parasite who has made a living reading the souls of every fool who walks through his doors and wrapping them around his little finger, who claims to know every little thought that has ever run through our heads.

So I ask you Wishmaster if you know me so well, what do I fear most?

Because Curze is easy, a child screaming for peace he will never have because he knows deep down he doesn’t deserve it.

Wolfe and Felix both fear the red light, Damien because for the first time in his life, he doesn’t feel in control and poor Felix is terrified of it because he thinks it makes him a monster.

Even Bernie is easy to read, he’s afraid of caring for someone again and then failing to save them too. He’s afraid of losing one more soul because he doesn’t think he can come back from it.

But what about me Fidel? What does James Jackson fear most?

Is it failure or loss or even the grim reaper himself?

I fear what every hero did, I fear what every innocent person in this broken world does. I don’t fear Death, I fear never having lived at all.

Because men like you have forced Arcadia into a life not worth living for far too long and it’s about time you faced what you fear most.

You fear being forgotten, a fate worse then death and when I drag your sorry ass down to the pits of Tatarus,

The name Aarman Fidel will forever be forgotten, not even a whisper of a rumour in the wind but mine? When the morning breaks and this world can finally live again,

They will never forget the name of the boy who gave them the courage to endure.
