Dead End.

In Promo by Simon

A man drives through an old, familiar neighborhood.

He knows the area well, it’s a path he’s traveled before.

It gives him a sense of confidence and security during his drive.

What he didn’t count on, however, was a drastic overhaul from his last visit.

Even the map he was given is out of date as a result.

So, he consults one of the locals, soon realizing it’s an old friend.

They catch up on each other’s history, shooting the breeze to get reacquainted.

The man is grateful for the conversation, before pressing on with his need to find his destination.

With a smile and a nod, his friend gives him clear instructions, describing every turn necessary to complete the journey.

They say their goodbyes and the man continues his trip, following every turn to the letter.

A left turn here, a right turn there.

If you get to a particular landmark, you’ve gone too far and need a U-turn.

As the man follows his friend’s directions, the area becomes less visible due to a lack of proper lighting…but the man trusts the guidance of his friend, so he presses on.

Eventually he drives past a peculiar sign at the side of the final stretch of road.

Dead End.

The man is confused by this, slowing down drastically as he approaches what he thinks is his destination.

Except that it’s just a wall.

And that’s when it hits him.

The man’s “friend” led him astray with bad directions.

What a terrible betrayal…isn’t it, Sigil?

You recruited Legacy to your cause, rewarding their loyalty with your compassion.

And instead of becoming mere minions, they became your friends.

They put their trust in you, and you returned the favor.

Except that eventually came back to haunt you, didn’t it?

Your foolishness allowed Legacy to be destroyed, one by one.

And the only one remaining gave you bad directions.

Led you astray.

You expected to find answers, and got precisely that…at a cost.

Instead of moving forward, you have come at a dead end.

Betrayed by someone you considered a friend.

A fitting punishment, for every time you stabbed someone in the back.

And as you turn around to try and retrace your steps, you come across ol’ Simon.

Except I’m not here to help you find your way again, Sigil.

I’m here to give you what you deserve.

All those broken alliances means you have no one to save you from what’s coming.

To save you from me.

The wall you’ve hit on this dead end is about to come crumbling down on you.

Leaving you in a heap of debris and misery.

And it will bring a smile to my face.

I will delight in your suffering.

Laughing as you choke on the consequences of your hubris.

Broken and consumed by the weight of your ambition.

And I’ll snatch what I want right out of your hands.

The power you’ve collected.

You won’t be needing it, when I’m through with you.
