“DEAD HONEST”

Click.

Static covers the screen as a Play ► symbol appears in the bottom right-hand corner.

A blinding light pierces their eyes as the drawers of their residence are slowly pulled open. Blinded, they shield their face as they both try to blink their way to understanding.

But when they can finally see, they wish they hadn’t.

Drexl and Teddy O’Toole are face to face with Tombstone and Drewitt.

“We demand answers,” Tombstone says defiantly.

Teddy and Drexl look at one another.

“And no-one leaves The Morgue, or Mortuary, until we fuckin’ get them,” Drewitt reaffirms.

Why is he alive?” Tombstone demands to know.

“Look boys, I don’t have nothin’ ta do wit dis,” Drexl begs off. “I saw dis mother focker merk him, ya get me? I took my chance. Dat’s it. I thought I could convince this cracker to work for me.”

Everyone turns their attention to Teddy, who sheepishly runs a hand through his hair.

“I have no idea what any of you gentlemen are talking about,” The Candy Man lies. “I definitely put a bullet in the back of his head, but I have absolutely no idea why he survived. It’s a mystery.”

“One of you fucks is lyin’,” The Explorer growls. He goes to attack O’Toole, but Tombstone stops him.

“This ends here,” he roars. “I’m warning all three of you just once; I have a job to do here at the Mortuary. Should you interfere with my job again, all three of you will travel to the other side. I will send you on your way.

“Okay big boy,” Drexl smarmily retorts. “Now take me the fook home, innit?”

“TOGETHER?”

Destructo Boy.

Arcadia’s fresh faced hero stands right near the entrance door, preparing to go out for his match with Mannfred Curze. He looks determined, balling up his fists and shadow boxing the wall as he hypes himself up when a voice calls out to him.

“Hey, kid.” The dry, gravely voice of The Burned Man introduces him to the scene, Destructo Boy turning around to face his would be mentor, frowning.

“Here to tell me Curze is too violent for me?” Destructo Boy is clearly not looking for another lecture, though Burned Man can only sigh as he shakes his head.

“No. I just needed to talk to you, I couldn’t find you backstage. But, could you listen? Just before you go out?”

“Well,” James looks towards the ring, clearly waiting for his moment to enter. “Just make it quick, I guess.”

“Yeah, I wish I found you earlier.” The Sole Survivor clears his throat. “I get it, you don’t want me telling you what you should and shouldn’t do. And yeah, Curze is violent, he’s the kind of hero who would kill without a second thought. But I’m just here to say I trust you. I figure you needed to hear that and I just needed you to know I do trust you. I just need to make sure we’re on the same page come next week, okay?”

Destructo Boy takes in the words, shaking his head slowly. “I get it. And we’ll be on the same page. Just let me do this alone.”

“And then next week, can I trust you’ll be okay working together?” Burned Man asks, arms crossed.

James nods his head, turning back to the entrance as his music begins to play. “Yeah, we can work together.”

With those words, he exits onto the ramp, heading towards the ring as The Burned Man walks away, the Sole Survivor clearly not sure of his own words.

Destructo climbs to the top rope looking for the 630 Senton – THE JUSTICE GRENADE— explodes across the knees of Curze, nearly snapping Jackson in half!  The Nightmare Haunter snatches his smaller foe up and drives him back down with the Package Piledriver– BAPTIZED IN FILTH!

With a sick grin, Mannfred neglects to hook the leg with the pin— ONE…TWO…NO! Shoulder barely off the canvas, as Jackson will not give up, his heart on full display. “NO GOING BACK”

An hour after last week’s Clash.

Beneath a decrepit overhang, Jackson Cade stands motionless, staring blankly at his trembling hands, slick with blood.

Jasper Redgrave’s blood.

Laying flat on the concrete is the envelope addressed to Jackson Cade from Stubbins Doom. The weapon, the secret to bringing Redgrave in by the book, that Doom promised.

But inside, all Cade found was a letter with one word on it.

DON’T.

He didn’t listen.

Cade has always prided himself on his unwavering adherence to the rules, on being an upstanding officer. Everyone else may have given in to moral decay, but Jackson Cade was a beacon of righteousness.

Wasn’t he?

But no longer.

He’d allowed his rage to cloud his judgment, his hands acting as judge, jury, and executioner as they savagely assaulted Redgrave.

Now, and only now, can Jackson understand what his Captain meant when he took him off the case.

The taste of violence, like a forbidden fruit, leaves an insatiable hunger gnawing at his soul.

Redgrave’s fruit.

The one he saw spilled when he first crossed paths with the Artist.

Redgrave’s sinister smile has haunted him for months. It’s become an obsession, a grotesque fascination that consumes Cade’s every waking moment.

A mission to apprehend the man hellbent on destroying him.

But by not just ending it, with a bullet between the eyes, as the Captain said he should do, how many lives has it cost?

Riggs and his family.

Untold others.

And now, standing in the heart of the Slums, Jackson Cade must confront the abyss within himself.

His once unshakable conviction that justice would prevail has shattered, leaving him adrift in a sea of self-doubt and recrimination.

The lines between right and wrong have become blurred, indistinguishable in the shadows that now envelop him.

The darkness whispers seductive temptations, coaxing him to embrace the primal urges he has fought so desperately to suppress.

The urge to end Redgrave.

Cade clenches his fists, feeling the weight of his badge against his palm, a stark reminder of the path he has chosen, the path he has strayed from so irrevocably.

A cold wind blows through the narrow alleyways, carrying the mournful cries of forgotten souls, echoing the turmoil raging within Cade’s mind.

As he stands amidst the shadows, the truth begins to crystallize, like ice forming on the edge of a frozen lake.

There is no going back.

No redemption for the sins he has committed…

… nor the ones he wants to commit.

No matter what happens next, no matter if Cade must become the monster he seeks to slay, he has to see this through.

To whatever end.

He must confront the darkness within him and face the consequences of his actions.

With a cold determination, Jackson Cade drops his badge on the ground, letting it fall upon the ignored warning from Stubbins Doom.

There is no going back.

He has to finish what he started.

“FORGIVENESS”

We’re once again in the ornate hall known as The Altar. We’ve seen Grimskull and Vision congregate here several times now, but never quite like this.

Today, the marble table that Grimskull awoke from last week is now the table around which the two religious leaders sit, alone.

There are no other Third Eye members, nor any other people present, anywhere in the room.

“I understand what you must think of me,” says Vision, starting the conversation. “You must think I’m a sociopath. You must think me incredibly hypocritical. You must find yourself wondering how I ever thought the Third Eye Way would sway you.”

“You’re right about all of those things, Vision. We’ve crossed paths many times before, but you’ve shown yourself to be a more dark and twisted person than I’ve ever known you to be.”

“There is a purpose for everything I have done, and everything I’ll continue to do. To show you empathy, and charity I had to open your eyes in a way they’d never been opened before. To show you anger and despair I had to open your soul in a way it had never been opened before.”

“But none of it means anything, Vision.”

“Does it not, preacher?” asks Vision. “Tell me. Did you feel your stomach drop when you realised the family I had helped were your own people? Did you feel your world collapsing when you thought all your people were dead?”

Grimskull hesitates. “I did,” he eventually responds.

“Then you have felt things other than pain, and how they can change you as a person. All I’ve ever wanted to do is show you that pain is not the only way, but just a fraction of the way. And now you have experienced all of these emotions you are on your way to becoming someone who can see more than just the eye sees.”

Grimskull stays silent.

“I can tell you need some time to process this. Just know that your next step is an important one. The next facet of the prism is forgiveness, and it is the orange facet. And before we go on, you need to understand forgiveness, and also to forgive me for the sleights you believe me to have shown you.”

Grimskull nods.

“I think I do,” he responds, curtly.

“THE END OF ALL THIS”

The House of Sovereigns

Damien Wolfe and Felix Foley sit on two chairs opposite one another, guarded by Ares as they await Zeus. When the Baron enters the room of his house, they both stand, and he waves them to remain seated.

They carefully sit back down.

“Thank you for coming,” The Baron says with a sigh. “I think you both know why I’ve invited you here, don’t you?”

They nod.

“This red light situation has gone on far too long and it needs to end, now,” he reminds them. “Since neither of you are willing to take responsibility, I’ve come to a conclusion of my own accord.”

“Sir,” Wolfe pleads.

Zeus shoot him a look that silences him.

“If you’re under the impression that this is a collaboration, perhaps Ares should take you into the conversational hall for a chat?” He asks.

“Well, I think that’d be-”

Zeus nods to Ares, who swoops on and grabs Damien, dragging him outside into the hall. There are a few quick thuds, and the door is shortly thereafter opened, with Wolfe being dragged back in and dumped in his seat by The God of War.

His shirt skewed, blood dripping from his nose and his glasses wonky.

Must’ve been a good chat.

“Finished?” Zeus asks, taking a sip of tea from a cup.

Damien sheepishly nods.

“Very well. Should there be another appearance of this mystical red light that neither of you know anything about, you’ll both be fired.”

Felix gulps.

“Any objections?”

Both men say nothing.

“Good,” Zeus remarks with a smirk. “Now, let that be the end of it, won’t you? No more of these red light shenanigans.”

Wolfe looks at Foley.

“A THINKING MAN'S GAME”

The Doom Factory.

Earlier this week.

El Mariachi Muerte sits uncomfortably in a chair – for what feels like months but has been merely weeks by comparison. His head has probes attached and Stubbins Doom appears to be scanning his brain for information to no avail.

“I’ve spent weeks trying to understand how you think,” he says frustratedly. “But you keep managing to block my signals.”

Muerte chuckles.

“I’m sorry Doctor puta, should I be trying to help you scan my brain?” The Mariachi says with a laugh.

“All I want to know is how you think, you insolent little man. That way, I can prepare for your eventual invasion.”

WHAM!

Suddenly, a cane crashes across the back of Doom’s head, sending him flying into the analysing computer. Glass shatters and smashes everywhere, giving his attacker a fleeting moment to act.

It’s Dr. Death and he’s come for his friend.

Death grabs Doom and tosses him over a railing, watching as he falls and lands five feet down in a little area of cabling below.

He rushes over to Muerte, snatching the probes from his head.

“Amigo,” Singing Death says with pride. “You came.”

“I wouldn’t leave you behind, old friend,” Death says, helping him from  his chair. He reaches inside his pocket and pulls out a little green bottle. “Here, drink this Elixir – it’ll grant you strength.”

Muerte does so, being able to move from his position of captivity to a stand.

“What now?” Death asks, helping him towards the door.

“Recover,” he mutters. “And then we punish Doom and get our song sheet back.”

“RECEIPTS”

Back in The Bleak for the first time in a few weeks, the gift box that Draco Deville gave to Mannfred Curze last week now sits atop a rickety table.

It’s wrapped neatly and concisely, with a black bow tied atop it.

Curze frowns at it, his brow furrowed. He’s not quite sure what to make of it, or whether he can even trust the shopkeeper to keep to his word.

But he paid for this box, so he may as well look at the box and it’s contents.

So he approaches the box and pulls one thread of the ribbon and then lifts the lid of the box carefully.

He looks inside.

And then slams down the lid, fire in his eyes and a face like thunder. He tips up the box. It’s full of paper!

The Horror growls quiety, swiping the paper off the table in anger.

But one slip of paper remains, and Curze, almost instinctively and nonchalantly picks it up and reads the small cursive writing on it.

His demeanor suddenly changes as he re-reads the paper once more. It’s a receipt.

He folds the paper carefully and stores it in a snug pocket, patting it lightly as he leaves the room, the look on his face now closer to enlightenment than rage.

But just what did he see on that receipt?

“AT AN ARM'S REACH”

In the midst of Central Arcadia, we find Narcissa Balenciaga. She busies herself in her design, surrounded by fabric swabs, sketches of designs and prototypes. Around her, in the relatively small dwelling, her design assistants scurry between hanging racks and half finished garments at her request.

A commotion outside her curtained doorway steals away the Designer’s attention, and she stands up from her desk. One can tell from the way she holds herself, the air of frustration about her, that she knows exactly the source of the commotion.

Stepping through her curtained partition, she moves into the Arcadian streets themselves. Outside her dwelling, a small horde of folk guard her entranceway as a form of makeshift security. They appear to be blocking entry to her studio for those who wish to enter. Running defense, if you will. A familiar voice rises above the commotion.

“I don’t think you realise who I am. I am Narcissa’s partner, let me through.”

Colt Ramsey. Narcissa shakes her head, balling her fist at her side as she watches the scene from afar. One of the security team negotiates with the frustrated Colt, his palm to Ramsey’s chest.

“I know full well who you are, Mister Ramsey. Miss Balenciaga has asked that you specifically be unallowed entry to her premises.”

The words Colt didn’t want to hear. He lashes out, dropping the security guard with a right hook, which only allows the remaining team to swamp him and restrain him. He struggles for a few moments before falling still. Lifting his head, he spies Narcissa watching from the curtain of her studio.

Colt struggles to free himself, but security pushes him back to safety.

“So, this is it? Narcy? You’re keeping me at an arms reach now? Was it something I said?”

He straightens his shirt after the roughhousing.

“You of all people should know that determined people find a way to get what they want in the end. Why don’t you just give in and go on one date with me? A single date. One dinner. If you let down you walls for a single moment, you may even enjoy yourself.”

Narcissa begins to walk towards him, she stops while she’s still a few yards away, with a line of security still between her and Colt. The Journo smiles at her, a mixture of seductive and seedy.

“We’re good together Narcy. Surely you can see that.”

Narcissa moves towards him, her little security team parting ways. She looks as if she is considering his offer, much to his delight.

NARCISSA KICKS HIM FULL FORCE IN THE BALLS WITH THE TOE OF HER STILETTO!

COLT DROPS LIKE THE LEAD ON A COLD STORY!

NARCISSA PLANTS THE HEEL OF HER STILETTO INTO HIS CHEST AND GLARES DOWN AT HIM!

“You just don’t get when to stop do you, creep? You want to get close? I’ll let you real close. Warforged, you and me. I’ll let you as close as you like as I beat the living underworld out of you.”

While Colt rolls on the ground in agony, and her security team laughs to each other at the exchange, Narcissa turns on her heel and heads back to her work.

“GAME OVER”

The Gallery.

Deep within the Gallery, we find Jasper Redgrave carefully placing a medical drip bag into a refrigeration unit.

Full of blood.

Secured to a cold, metal chair in the center of the room, a member of the A.P.D. trembles with fear, his wide, panicked eyes darting around the chamber.

The very same one we saw giving the Artist intel weeks ago.

Redgrave approaches the officer, his lips twisted into a cruel smile as he strokes the man’s face with a gloved hand.

“The Little Eagle is trying to fly before he knows how,” Redgrave whispers, his voice smooth like venom. “He thinks he’s bested me, but your first hunt doesn’t make you a killer.”

Nodding his head in cautious agreement, the officer tries to stand, but Redgrave puts a hand on his chest. He normally lets him out of the restraints.

But not this time.

In one fluid motion, Redgrave draws a razor-sharp blade from his jacket and presses it against the officer’s arm, slicing through the flesh as easily as a hot knife through butter. Blood begins to flow, a crimson river that Redgrave lets seep into the ground, savoring each drop as it fills a depressed area beneath the officer.

“What are you doing?” The officer gasps out in pain. “You said…”

“I say many things.” Redgrave interrupts. “When the birdie tries to fly before its ready, you have to be there to catch it.”

With the blood now flowing heavily from a colorless arm, Redgrave regards the officer with a cold, emotionless gaze.

“You have played your part well,” Redgrave says, his voice devoid of warmth. “But now, our little game is over. I have no further use for you.”

The officer’s eyes widen in terror as Redgrave looms over him, his blade glinting in the candlelight. He tries to scream, but we will never hear it.

“TEACHABLE MOMENTS”

The Cloverfields.

It has been quite a while since we’ve seen this luscious sea of green dotted with some flowers here and there. One look to the surrounding hills would raise the question of whether the eyes are still watching…but our focus quickly turns to Kaiju Chiba walking through.

He looks at the flowers as he passes, studying their beauty when a voice calls to him. Turning his attention to the source, the Big Save is delighted to see Gemini…looking quite different from when we saw her facing Teddy O’Toole.

“There you are!” Kaiju exclaims, arms stretched out as if offering a hug. “I’ve been looking for you.”

Happy as she is to see her new friend, Gemini seems to have an air of confusion about her as she approaches.

“You have? I was at Olympus, when I was told to find you here.”

This statement raises an eyebrow from Kaiju, wondering how he’d missed seeing her in his search…when suddenly, we hear precisely who delivered the message.

“I knew you’d end up here.”

The big man turns his focus to the voice behind him, revealing Kpavio staring the pair down. The Skull quickly turns his attention to Gemini, motioning toward the very fields they stand in.

“This was a turning point for us, Gemini…when I took a pair of daggers to protect you. That was a teachable moment for me, realizing from then on that you would need to learn what needs to be done…and now, we’ve reached the point of your teachable moment.”

Kpavio points to the man standing between the former Tag Team Champions before continuing.

“This man claims to be your friend, but you must come to learn there are no friends in Arcadia. Allies, perhaps…but even still, betrayal awaits.”

Kaiju huffs a breath at this, staring the Skull down as he speaks up for himself.

“You have made your point known, Skull…but you are wrong.”

Kpavio simply scoffs at this, but keeps his attention on Gemini while responding.

“The choice will be yours to take, Gemini. You will see the truth for yourself, what must be done.”

And with that, the Skull disappears into the shadows once more, leaving the Big Save and Nature’s Delight to flee the fields.

“ESTA NOCHE IS LA NOCHE”

As Stubbins Doom wearily gets back to his feet, he stumbles into the ropes, having just went to war with Drexl.

A single spotlight suddenly illuminates a single figure who appears, holding a guitar. Head bowed and his face covered by a large sombrero, he begins to play, a flowing Mariachi song.

The Invasion winner lowers his guitar, lifting his head to lock eyes with Doom.

Oh no.

“It’s time, mi amigo,” Muerte warns, taking his guitar off and placing it against one of the stage blocks. “Your attempts to mine my brain for information were a failure, but little did you know that esta noche is la noche, compadre!”

Oh my God!

El Mariachi Muerte is invading! He hands the briefcase off the referee and begins his walk towards the ring!

This is happening tonight!

Right now…

HE’S INVADING!

IT’S TIME!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Explosions suddenly crash at the bottom of the steps as El Mariachi Muerte makes his way up them towards the ring. Doom chuckles to himself, pointing at the steps.

“You didn’t think I protected myself, Mr. Muerte?” He says wryly, exiting onto the stage.

Muerte meanwhile was blown from the steps to the floor, the improvised IED explosives having torn holes in his attire and bloodied his face.

Stubbins levitates down using his hover boosters and appears beside him.

“Let’s finished what we started, shall we?” He continues, reaching down to pull EMM back to his feet. The Scientist blasts them both back upwards and towards the ring, stopping at a hover above the canvas.

They’re ten foot in the air, easily!

O’Death will almost certainly meet at Ring of Dreams, but these two best friends don’t care about that for now. That’s another matter for another day and you just know they’d not have it any other way.

El Mariachi Muerte is the OSW World Champion thanks to a vital assist from his tag team partner and O’Death will dominate Ring of Dreams like only friends can.
